Drag Racing
How many members here drag race their Vette? I was snooping around and found this sweet looking 84.
Just curious if anyone else here does.

I take the old 85 to the track once a year for Corvette Magic in out area. Corvettes only on the track. The numbers change each year.....154 - 180 Corvette running down the tack.
I am a little crazy, I let my sons also drive the car at the track. Last year they had to bail out at the last minute. I had already paid for them to run, so I had my oldest son's father-in-law drive for him and a good friend (Lynda) drive for my youngest son. We all had a great time last year. My friend Lynda drove and was hooked. Six months later she bought a 94. The two of us went up to the track on a Friday in September and ran head to head. The old 85 still kicks butt....running 13.3's on that hot day. The 94 was able to get down to 14.1 . We had a great time.
The 85 even out runs some of the newer cars......

That's
I would like to do it once, just for the hell of it. Probably wouldn't do very good on my street tires though. They seem to like to spin rather easily.
Guess I need to look around a little bit more, didn't even see that Drag Racing Section before.

Oh, I've been hooked for years. It started in high school with my boss and his 65 Chevy II. Many many hours unpaid working on his car and going to every race. I just can't convince the better half how much fun it would be. She "allowed" me to get a boat, so guess I'll stick with that for now, haha!

I've got it bad ! Two cars myself and son one ! Only cure I know of is more of it !
I don't drink or do drugs ! Can't afford to !
I got bit in 1960's when hometown friend Dickie Harrell went Super Stock racing then Pro A/FX match racing !

There are two kinds of Corvette owners...
There are WAXERS and there are WARRIORS!
Waxers get excited about top flight NCRS honors.
Waxers have Hooter's girls posing with (or in!) their cars!
Waxers are among those that buy Corvettes for the bling factor of affording something new.
Waxers are among those types that know squat about Corvettes, but feel they're experts because they've memorized sales brochures; making them instant experts and therefore qualified to put down any previous Corvette generation.
Waxers are among those who wear lace on their underwear! (just kidding)
But, WARRIORS... just wipe the blood off the bumper after the weekend!
Warriors mod their cars and go lookin' for fun (& victims!)
Warriors appreciate the full capability the Vette has to offer (beyond 1/4 mile alone)
Warriors have studied their FSMs and have the tools to do most or all of their own wrenching.
I guess I'm a little of both, but mostly WARRIOR. I like Hooter's girls, but don't have the lace on my underwear. I like Zaino because it makes my car look like a weekend waxer owned it, but really because it stays put with the least bit of fussing...which gives me more time to think about racing!
Just one "hit" (of the 1/4 mile track) and you're hooked! Then you can say Bub-by to your loose cash...forever!

DON'T DO IT!!!!! It's a terrible addiction (ask me how I know).
First it gets into your head. Then it gets into your blood. Finally, it gets into your bank account, and you are DOOMED!!!!1!!!11
