Default Replacement headlights

I've had my 94 since 97, and for the first time, one of my headlights burnt out. Just wondering what everybody is using for replacements? The original ones have the light weight plastic lenses. Any suggestions for better/brighter ones?

Over the past 6 years I've replaced mine twice with the plastic originals. I use my headlights every day and have never had any motor or gear problems using the light weight originals. I live and drive in a suburban area and feel that they provide very adequate light ..... there will be many people posting here however who will not agree with my assesment

Not going to agree or disagree regarding the original plastic headlights...BUT...I went to the SilverStars and they are so much nicer. Yes they have glass lens but the light is nice and bright. Not HD bright, but not the yellow that I had with the originals.

SilverStars are $20 each and are a direct fit.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Running them also. They are much better than the originals.

I bought others but Sylvanias Silverstars are very bright and that is important cuz i kinda blind at night.
I bought some after market crap that I'd be willing to give away practically..
Just $20 bucks to get off my *** and mail it to you or any one that wants them.
The Problem with these, is that, they look like projectors but are not, and the background being black does not reflect as bright as the chrome background.

Silverstars are not significantly if any brighter than standard halogen lights. They give off a slightly bluer shade of light that makes them seem brighter. For those of you not in a hurry for a light upgrade, I am planning a new design for the flip lights that I will work on when my non flip design is complete. Probably available around spring time for the flip system.

When I looked at the Silverstars I noticed they had a significantly lower MTBF compared to other standard halogens. That may not be true anymore - haven't checked.

When I got my C4, one light was original plastic and the other a glass replacement. The glass replacement halogen was MUCH brighter. Not sure why but I replaced it w/ a glass lens halogen. I'm not sure the plastic ones are even available anymore anyway.

The later C4s have upgraded headlight gearing/motors - I do not believe the added weight of the glass headlight over the plastic one has any effect. The plastic stop bushings inside the gear housings can crack and disintegrate as a function of time in my opinion, not weight. The one driving the original plastic lense on mine went out first FWIW.
