Anyone have any recent experience with Autozone's Duralast battery?
I need to install a new battery in my 96 LT1 and have an Autozone gift card I want to burn. Nothing else I need there at the moment, so if your reviews are good, I'll use it on the battery.
Should be OK for a year or two..... Or spend the money for a much better Interstate MTP-75 battery and use the gift card for some Mobil-1 oil and filters. Most A-Z stores have a decent selection of waxes and polishes so that's another thing to stock up on.
I put one in my '93 last year. No problems. For the record, the battery I replaced was some no name brand that came with the car when I bought it. It had a sticker on it that dated it 7/05.
Just pulled the old battery. Not terribly difficult, but WOW, a heck of a lot more involved than any other car I've owned!! The old one was an undated one from Advance Auto Parts.

I agree Interstate all the way. Put them in all my cars. They are amazing batteries. I got onto Interstate by this forum and can't be happier. Good luck

I got 11 years out of a Die-Hard, and what killed it was
the alternator dieing. There's more than one good
battery out there, what's important is avoiding the bad
ones.
And don't do something like leave the lights on and
run it flat. That's bad news for starting batteries.

Good battery.
I had one go bad on me after 4 years and I got a new 7 year one for $20.
In Arizona the joke is that we just rent batteries because the heat kills them. I've had better luck with Autozone batteries than any others over the years, and their warranty is great, no hassle any place in the country, all you need is your phone number. Prices have really shot up on batteries over the past 18 months.
When the battries go dead in my cars I replace them with Duralast. No battery seems to last too long in my vette, I think its because the abuse it takes at autox's.
One of my cars has a Costco (Kirkland) batery from '04 that's still performing well. My $.02? -- buy the cheapest you can find, 'cause all wet cell batteries are essentially the same. Some companies just have a larger advertising budget which is built into the price.
Take the money you save and get a good smart charger that has a reconditioning (sulfation removing) cycle. That will do you more good in the long run, and will do it for ALL your vehicles.
