zf6 question
just as a ballpark, how much do you think it would cost to have someone take the 4 speed automatic out of a late model c4 (a4?)(3+4?) and put in a zf 6 speed? if i do the work myself? if i have someone else do it?

the numbers I have heard hover around $3000.00 if you DIY...
however, the process is parts intensive... also, the trans tunnel needs to be modified.
Others who have done this will chime in, I am sure.
I would sell the A4 and replace with a MN6...

I have done this 3 times in F-bodies. I charged the last person $500 (labor only) to do it. I won't do another for less than $800. It is a real pain in the ****.
I have never done a 'Vette, but most of it is the same. The only major difference that I can think of is the floor pan. In an f-body, you just cut a hole for the shifter and put a lower boot over it. I have heard that in a 'Vette you have to cut out a complete section of the floor pan and go back with that same section out of a M6 car. I have never done it, so I'm not sure.
