I personaly would like to move out of the bay area but my wife wont leave.I told her to not be a stranger and come visit sometime.
I hear ya. My plan is get a place in Tahoe for spring/summer/fall and then head for tropic climes during the winter. So far, I'm talking to a stone wall.

Some places offer a "pre-test" for those who have doubts about passing the real test. This will tell you weather you would or would not have passed the real test. It's about $15.

No snow? I worked up a sweat this afternoon pruning
the shrubs in shirt sleeves.

A great ocean? But surf's up this weekend, so no
diving.

I guess we'll have to post some pix to show you. Don't you get the Travel Channel out there on the farm?

Just joking...from a former Ohio farm boy.

The state itself is beautiful, just the government is corrupt.

I see no evidence of corruption, just simple incompetent
kowtowing to the voters to get reelected. Ahnold cut
taxes in the good times. I guess he never heard of
saving for a rainy day.

Those of you who are new here don't remember how
bad the smog used to be. And the technology that
has cleaned up the exhaust has improved gas mileage.

Yes, New Jersey or Chicago-style corruption is confined to local governments and small towns out here. California's political mentality has always been "what, me worry?" when it comes to budgeting...maybe appropriate for a state that has come to expect the next gold rush and has repeatedly got it from central valley agriculture, to Hollywood, to aerospace, to silicon valley.

What's next? We'll see.

BTW, CA's budget deficit as a percentage of the overall state economy is only 6th worst among states, contrary to media hype. South Carolina, that sturdy bastion of conservative principles, is worse.

I agree about the clean air, used to be really bad, but if you think there is no government corruption then I have a bridge to sell you. and politicians are nothing but legal criminals.

This was the problem that caused my '89 to fail smog last month. This was my second smog inspection since purchasing the car three and a half years ago with 22K original on the odometer. The car was running a bit rough before I brought it in to be smogged. My mechanic did a little magic on the EGR unit, and it then passed without replacement. I now have 58K on the odometer.

if no visible smoke (automatic fail), it runs good, and no Service Engine Soon light, it should pass no problem, or at worse should be easily correctable (gas cap replacement comes to mind).

p.s. granted, sometimes I go to the parts counter, but in general, stay out of Chevy dealers; just my opinion ... but based on personal experience.
