I am unable to open the hood in my 1995 corvette. The latch on the passenger side releases as it supposed to, however the latch on the drivers side will not release. I've tried several methods suggested to me but still find my attempts futile. I just purchased a handle from Mid-america motorworks that they say will release it, but I'm unable to find the exact catch and release point to insert it. Has anyone experienced this problem, and could you suggest something I'm missing in this application...

Patience is a virtue here. Well, at least when it comes to the emergency release tool. That tool at best is a PITA to use. There is a guy here that owns one but stores it in the lake out behind his house
The bright side is they do work. Stay with it. It will open… Good luck!
Once you get it open...and you will...might be a good idea after making the necessary repair to install some "emergency" release cables on each side. You can buy them from the major vette catalogs (Ecklers and Midamerica) or you can make your own using some fishing leaders and some split shot lead weights. I think there's a link if you use the "search" feature that illustrates how somebody did it. That's where I got the idea for mine and they work great.
without the tool, remove your tires , remove the inner fender plastic, reach up inside and pull them , one at a time. Then call "CORVETTE RECYCLING" and have them send you the upgraded latch kit that includes upgraded springs that will eliminate this issue for you, and its only $49 bucks. The only parts out of the kit that I've used are the 'upgraded springs' and the 'upgraded pins'. I am one happy camper cause I dont have to worry bout this 'nomo'
