Default Convertible top replacement info needed

Thanks corvetteronw for the info on where to get the installation DVD. Got it on order and should have in a couple of days.
Does any one have info on or experience with California Convertible Tops?
How about weather-strips from Wilcox? They have a great “Forum Discount” price.
Thanks
Mike

Default Convertible top

I installed my top myself. I used Wilcox weatherstrip and I'm 100% satisfied. It fits great and looks great and installed great.

How difficult was it to replace the top? Where would I get instructions?

Thanks,

Rocky

Default Top installation

Corvette Fever website has a great article on replacing the top.
Just poke around, you'll find it. Step by step with lots of pictures.
You'll need new weatherstrip (7 piece kit) and a can of 'vinyl cement.'
Take your time. Read the directions several times before you get started. There are a few times when it helps to have a helper for a few minutes (mostly when you put the new top on for the first time and want to make sure it's centered properly).
You just need common hand tools including some small socket wrenches.

There are a lot of screws, so I took a shoe box and turned it upside down and poked holes in the bottom as I took each row of screws out. then I pushed them in the holes in the shoe box in order. When it came to reinstallation, they were all in the right place and I didn't lose any.
The plastic plugs in the weatherstrip are a different story. They cannot be removed without flying great distances, so be careful to try to capture them before they fly off. The article warned about this, and I thought I took sufficient precautions, (you have to pry them off) but, oh well. They aren't showstoppers, and one day I'll replace them. As you might imagine they are unique and no one sells them.

All in all, it was a satisfying experience, and you can point to it and say "I did it myself!"
Good Luck!
