Ventmaster Hatch lift help needed.

I picked up a new Ventmast hatch vent off ebay for $20.00 this week. Last night I was playing with putting it on. (I know, I need a life) It appears that the light control shaft is a bit too long and causes the end to pop off the Light control stub. I feel like I pushed it up on the haft as far as possible, but still seems to long. I also notice they do not line up real well. Is there an adjustment I need to make?

I had the same thing happen. I broke off half the plunger top.

There is a depth set screw inside the probe part that you can adjust with a phillips screwdriver.

Thanks r15! I never noticed that little screw inside there. I think I got everythng adjusted and ready for warmer weather. I didn't break the plunger but sent it flying. Glad I didn't. I noticed that switch is around $50.00.
