It's all calculated by the computer, using a formula based on oil temperature and engine revolutions.
You have to manually reset this oil life monitor every time you change the oil, otherwise the light will come on when you don't expect it.
Brand new 2011 GM cars are not any different, and you have to reset the monitor after an oil change.
Just what determines the oil change interval? Miles or the way it is driven or both?
Have had it come up on the ZR1 (92') with only a few miles after change.
