Have searched the site but yet to find what im seeking, so hear goes my question.
Im replacing my head lights, the lights I have are 12v 80/85w and im wondering, are these gonna cause the SYS light to flash in the instrument panel?
Ive already gone through the steps of correcting that once after removing my stock radio.... I like these lights as they are much brighter but in addition the housing assembly is MUCH LIGHTER than the replacement sealed beams you buy at the local run of the mill part store...
Again, im trying to avoid the SYS light flashing issue.

Reason: spelling
Make sure there is no corrosion on the bulbs plug or in the harness under hood. Not uncommon to be tarnished at the connectors and it will overheat a plug with that wattage if the connector isn't passing 100% of the juice to the bulb! You're almost doubling the power draw, make sure your wiring is up to it, I've fried a bulb socket on a Tahoe doing just that.

I did the upgrade you're speaking of on my '96 about 2 years ago except I used 80/100 bulbs-wiring at connector is warm but not hot after a 45 minute drive using mainly low beams--you won't have a SYS light (as someone else said-the headlamps aren't monitored)

Just a suggestion, make sure that you follow any special wiring precautions for hook up. I recently had to replace an entire engine harness including fuse box on a much newer car. The owner installed 85watt bulbs replacing 55 watt. The cars lighting circuit could not handle the overload. Howerver if the new lights don't require anything special, I would check my charging rate when the lights are on and other loads just to make sure you're not running off the battery. Good luck.
