Paint Touch Ups, Center Console, etc.
The 1990 I just bought has a paint chip about the size of a dime on the side of the hood in front of the driver's side door. Does anyone have any advice on touching it up or know of a good website with painting advice? Is it even wise for someone with absolutely NO experience with touch-up paint to even attempt it on a Corvette?

The car got broken into a few months back. The geniuses who broke in couldn't find the button to open the center console, so they ripped the thing right off the hinges. I don't think it's a matter of just re-attaching the hinges because 1) I don't think the hinge parts are all there and 2) the top of the console won't even lay flat. I get it as flat as possible, but it just lays there awkwardly. I realize this is a random one, but does anyone have any experience in fixing this thing?
Thank you for any help you may have.

You can buy touchup paint in a spray can. I'd clean the area, tape it off (so no overspray on the good paint), and apply the paint. Layer it up a few times and maybe that can get you by. I did this to a car once and the results were decent from a few feet.
Maybe they bent the hinges on your console lid. I'd check to see that they are as flat as possible and go from there.

An expert body shop guy gave me a tip when touching up paint- He was talking about the small bottles- he said when you get to the last couple of coats, mix the color 50-50 with clearcoat. If you need to wet-sand it, let it dry for a long time first, a couple of weeks wouldn't hurt.

This site is for motorcycles, but they have a link to automotive paint as well. I have bought from them for two different bikes and the color has been a perfect match both times. I would think the automotive site that they link to would work well, also. They are a little pricey, but if you follow their instructions and tips, you should be pleased with the results.
