What an exciting ride home! As I was on my way home from classes today I ran into a C5. We were messing around weaving in and out of traffic on some local roads trying to catch a light. While we were cruising we were pacing with each other complementing each others car. Mike, (as I found out his name) had a very pretty black 00 C5. (Stock, from what he told me) He was very impressed with the sound of my exhaust. He kept saying, "Dam those things are so dam loud." I replied, "You know you like them though", and proceded to give him a nod! I have side effects for my 95. Mind you we are blocking traffic trying to pace with each other, it was a very funny scene.
Any way we approached a yellow light, and boy was I excited. We agreed this was the spot. The tension grew as I anticiapted the light change. Once the light turned green, I pinned and so did Mike. I am not one to brag but I was surprised, I blew this C5 away off the line! Granted I dont think he reacted as quickly as I did but I still was like one care length ahead of him and the only major work I have to my LT-1 is my 3:73 and exhaust with other minor bolt ons! I was approaching 80 mph and I saw in my side view he was catching up but unfortunately by that time we already caught up to traffic that was ahead of us. I think if we had more room to race he would have passed me. That dam car was coming up very strong.
Whats funny is after we were done chasing each other we both went to lunch together. Corvette owners are very nice people and there seems to be some kind of unity between us owners. It was a very nice feeling to go to lunch with a total stranger and have an enjoyable discussion on corvettes!!
What a nice day! Thats one for C4 owners!!!
Glad you had a good time with another Vette owner. I've had alot of strangers that are Vette owners , let me park behind the barrier at shows, cruise in's and they even let me pull out in traffic in front of them, many many times. I've had luxury cars and other muscle cars and it just ain't the same as being in a Vette. There are very few kids driving Vettes, and the ones that do can't hold on to them very long. The true Vette owners are a good group of people. :smash:
Wow! that was great! While my ride was broke down, I saw Vettes everywhere in my rusted up pickup. I've had mine fixed since Wednesday and can't catch a peak at a Vette anywhere.
