Default 85..c4..valve seal

1985 c4.....stock cast iron heads.....correct valve seals ? after reading some very helpfull post on replaceing the valve seals I have decided I can handle this job myself. But it seams that there are multiple size seals ?..........

Different sizes for different applications. Different styles,OEM, umbrella. Different material, rubber,Viton, teflon. Some require machining of the valve boss. You get the idea. My suggestion is to call Summit Racing tech guys for their recommendation.

If you can pull an intake first (exhaust will probably just have plastic cups) and measure and see if the stem needs machining. Most won't need machining and will accept standard umbrella seals. My 87 heads were just that, already machine on both intake and exhaust and used standard 11/32 x .562's but can't say for sure on your iron heads. Viton is probably as good as you'll need and won't go hard for another 20 years.
