Default tire date ???

What is the time frame on the tires? I see a date of 99 on the tires on my Vette. I got a flat in the garage, the tire still looks good and alot of tread on it. I do see some dry rot on the outside of the tread.

Thanks Mark

Yikes, they are rollerskates at that age and not safe.

4 yrs maybe 5 tops.

Tires on my DD are 4 yrs old and getting hard, tread is disinigrating already.

had same problem with tires on my 97 camaro with chrome wheels. they tried siliconing the beads and all then they started the sidewall cracking and car had a mind of its own on the freeway. later looked up date codes and they were older then the car. this was 2 years ago

Time for new tires before your beneficiaries get to collect on your life insurance.

I believe 6 years is considered the lifespan of a tire. IOW, after 6 years replace them regardless of tread left. Of course, it also depends on condition... so if at the 4 year mark they are starting to look dry rotted then time to replace anyway.

this is what I have
Front: 255/45R17
Rear: 285/40ZR17

these are the G-force sizes that im looking at

Mine are made in 99 also and I need some too, maybe when I get my tax check
I have decided to go with the Continental extreme contact DW,this tire is made in our tire sizes and gets good reviews.

my other choices were Nitto 555,s and the cheaper Kumho tire

They'll fit, but wider is better. I'd find some 285's for the rear.

For the front, stick with stock size also, those 40 series are a bit smaller profile/diameter and makes the 4x look the C4 already has even worse.
