now that i got it running right after i start the car (1993 automatic) with the traction control on i can pull out and get on it pretty good and sometimes the transmission want shift into the next gear and i have to stop then i cut the car off and i can start it back and pull out and it shifts good.....the asr light does not come on when this happens...is this a asr problem????????? anybody had this problem? any suggestions on what to do??????? ( this does not happen all the time)
Doesn't sound like a ASR problem. ASR will retard timing and close the throttle to reduce wheel spin. It doesn't affect trans shifting..
Check and be sure the T.V. cable is not sticking or binding and is correctly adjusted. Be sure as the throttle is manually opened the cable moves freely and returns freely when throttle is closed. May be a valve body problem--but Id look very close at the TV cable first.
i am new to vettes ..... what is the t.v. cable and what does it do?
Some would call it a kick down or detent cable--it is the cable connecting the throttle to the transmissioin. Depending on throttle position it raises or lowers the tranny shift points. If it was sticking at times in a extended position it could cause it to shift very late. It is connected to the trans valve body. It serves a similar purpose as a vacuum modulator and a electric kick down switch on earlier GM trannys. The cable and housing are adjustable at the throttle itself.
i looked at my cables and there is only one cable at the throttle linkage... i would suspect this one is the main throttle cable and there is two going to the asr unit how do i go about adjusting and what cable is what....i have a chilton book but i need to get a factory service manual

Here is a good link for '92-'93 w/ASR. Further try the search feature here the are many threads w/pics describing adjusting the T.V. cable.
Try ebay for the FSM they usually have them.
