Default Primary cooling fan

Does anyone know at what temperature does the primary cooling fan turn on at idle? The auxiliary turns on at about 235 degrees. The fan motor is good and I have replaced the temp cooling switch on the engine block. The primary fan does not turn on. Is it supposed to turn on only when the car is moving?

The cooling fan does not come on at 226 Degrees as the repair manual says. The car is an 1988 corvette. The auxiliary fan does turn on. My question is, Does the cooling fan only turn on while moving? I have replaced the thermostat. It just seems to be running a little hotter than normal. All of the relays have been changed. Is there a switch inside of the fan motor?

Does the Pri fan itself actually work?
Have you got 12V power on the heavy red wire at the fan relay?
Will relay operate if grn/ wht wire at relay grounded ?

Computer turns on fan from temp readings it gets from CTS;
If CTS is sending bad temp readings then engine would be running rough so fair to assume problem is with fan / wiring itself

On a '88 the temp switch only operates the Aux fan in front of radiator ( if fitted ) and it is in the drv side head ;
not the block

I have an 89. The fan should come on if you put car in aux mode and pull the codes. When my main fan didn't go on it was a relay. I took the relay from the aux fan and wala my main fan worked again.

Where is the primary fan relay? The secondary fan relay is on the radiator shroud. That relay works.

Put the car in aux mode? Do you mean just hooking the code reader up to it?

On drivers side behind the wheel its mounted. Kind of across from the battery. .

****Mine has 2 relays, since I have a 6 speed****** If you have 2 of them its the 2nd relay, the one further from the battery.

As far as aux mode, when you pull the codes the fan should go on.
