Default Front spring

I posted a few weeks back about my front end being "too low" as it turns out my front spring is not only broke it's in Charlie Sheen territory. Anyway, it's new to me sorry no pics yet but I will soon. 96 coupe LT1 with 52K, I intend on driving it as much as possible and after reading as many posts as I could find I came up with this. Replace it with a new front spring and Bilsteins for the Z51 option. That combo seems to be acceptable, any nay sayers? No racing or autox btw.

Any reason not to replace with the same part #s?

That's exactly what I've been trying to do for about 6 months now; good luck finding a front '96 Z51 spring. The code is FSM, FSS, or FSR. 73 N/mm for 2 of them, 75 N/mm for the other (figured it was close enough). I finally settled for the base '96, which is code HA at 60 N/mm

But other than that, sounds like a great plan!

My mistake, I am only doing the shocks in the Z51 option, staying with stock spring. Ordered it thru Corvette America today and said I will have it on Friday, surprised how quickly, installation next week!

If it's not too late, I would talk to Vette Brakes and Products They do a range of springs. I discovered my car had one of their 'sport' front springs which I like, however I think the front (stock) shocks are waaaay too soft. Would love to try a Z51 setup and see how it feels in comparison. Mine is lowered also and has minimal travel. Some members have spoken very highly of QA1 adjustable shocks, but you need a few more $ for those

While I was out for a run courtesy of Nike not Goodyear that is, I had time to think. Along with the new front spring and 4 new shocks I am also putting on 4 new tires. My question is this, when should I do the alignment immediately after the work or put a few hundred miles on to let the suspension settle?

Yes, you should let it settle, but not a couple hundred miles. I'd say a week, and it should be settled.

Got the spring in, wasn't a direct fit needed to add shims as the new one is thicker than the original. All new shocks and tires, rides much better considering the old spring was broken in half. Just in time for the incoming snow, wont get it out again until next week, damn!
