Well I haven't listened to the stereo on my 1985 Corvette in a long while, I accidentally hit the radio on **** when I was cleaning up the interior. The antenna went up, the motor never stopped. I turned the stereo off, the motor made a different pitched noise so I guess it reversed direction but the antenna stayed up. The antenna isn't much of a problem but the fact that the motor starts running as soon as I hook up the battery is..Can someone please tell me what I need to purchase to get the antenna to function as designed? Im hoping its just a mast that needs to be replaced since the motor functions...
Thanks for the quick reply! One more question though, is it possible to disable the motor and get the antenna to go back down seeing I dont listen to the radio at all and I dont feel like fixing it right now?
From the '87 FSM, a temporary quick fix is to pull the
CTSY/CLK fuse. That's going to disable the courtesy
lights and the clock. It will also disable the following
idiot lights: Low coolant, security, fasten seatbelt,
and charge indiicator. If you have the electronic
heater and AC controls, those would get disabled.
Your '85 may be different.
Some wag said "when they built the 'vette, they hung
the antenna from the ceiling and built the whole car
around it.". On my '87, that's not far wrong.
