Tire Prices
Now the 285 is $312 (was $290 in December).
the Goodyear GS-D3 315 tire just went to $360 -almost 10 percent more than a month ago (and it was less than $300 in 2010)
They say the costs of rubber and oil coupled with demand in China/India driving tire prices sky-high. The weak USD doesn't help either I'm sure.
There are some lower priced tires- the same brands that are usually a good deal, but some of those come out of Japan- and we know the whole infrastructure there has had a major event and I doubt any Japanese backorders will be filled anytime soon.
I'm thinking about buying another set of rears now just in case these wide sizes go to four bills by the end of the year.
even some sources of take-offs from the awd turbo car community have dried up as nobody can afford to swap wheels and ditch their oem stuff- (I use 245/40-18 mitsu evo tires for my C6 fronts- rich kids used to sell those cheap when they go plus 1 on the rims). I guess they'd rather buy gasoline.
Is the sky about to fall?

I'm considering trying to locate another pair of the yokohamas I'm running on the new car before stock of them is depleted. I expect none to come out of Japan for some time. It was already an intermittent manufacturing run product and semi out-of-stock item before.
I expect the C4 tires to last for a few years because I don't plan on racking up mileage on that car- but...the way i drive, rear tires last 12k miles. If I could rotate them, I could stretch that to 20k, but no can do on C4's.
I know the milage because the PO left the tire reciept in the car.
I can't take my ASR off or it's all over the road,my rubber is hard and breaks loose very easy.
My rear tire tread thats left

If we have no inflation, why did I pay $7.53 for a chuck roast last week that had been marked down because it was nearing the "Use or freeze by" date? And how can Uncle Sam not count food and gasoline when he determines the rate of inflation. I know from personal experience that the vast majority of us have to drive our cars and eat.
OK, rant off. Just had to get that out of my system.
