In the process of reassembling my dash in my 1990 coupe after installing a new heater core, I decided to wrap and pad any loose wires and make sure that everything was still firmly attatched to help get rid of squeaks and rattles. In addition to me breaking a couple of plastic tabs, there were already broken plastic tabs and other broken pieces in my dash.
The two screws on top that hold the plastic trim in place that surrounds my cluster were totally rusted solid so I squirted a bit of WD-40 on them. I finally got them out but the WD-40 left a streak down the inside of the plastic window so I removed it so I could clean it.
But I guess the combination of WD-40 and glass cleaner caused some kind of acidic reaction and now I have foggy spots on the inside of my cluster window.
Does anyone have any ideas on cheap replacements or fixes? I think it would be possible to buy a small sheet of plexiglass from the hardware store and using heat to soften it up some bend it to match the old one.
This was the first year of the new dash design for my C4, it looks like the top half of a donut.
looks like the first one may be a NOS part, but i'm not 100% sure. the two others, most likely are repo's. BTW, i have no interest in these auctions. i'm just passing on information...
Turtle Wax makes a headlight lens restorer kit that might work. About $8 and comes with 3 different pads, a spray lube and a lens clarifying compound.
Mine had a couple of foggy "splotches" that I was able to get off with some Meguires Scratch-X (I would have tried their Plast-X product if I had had any at the time). Good luck.
