Requesting information on wheel adapters and their problems
Hi everyrone,
I'm really curious about the possible problems of using wheel adapters on my '87 coupe. I'm looking to trade 1990 stock rims from Daves90. Being that the offset is different, I need to know how dangerous it is. I don't plan on autocrossing ever. But, I don't want to worry too much if the need ever arises that I need to drive the car hard.
The extend of hard cornering that I do now is simply showing people how the Corvette can handle on/off ramps to major highways. That's about it. Other than that, I don't do much. But, am I going to have a problem if I'm swerving away from a possible accident on the highway?
Any past incidents that anyone can tell me about? Am I worrying over nothing?

3 years of semi hard street driving on my 86 and no problems. The VetteBrakes adapters are of very good build quality. Bolt the adapter to the hub, bolt the wheel to the adapter.

Thanks all.. I'll probably get the rims and put 'em on when I get them without the adapters. This way I can send my rims to Daves90 as he needs them right away. The paycheck after that I'll be buying White Lightning 89's seats - so the paycheck after THAT, I'lkl buy the adapters from vettebrakes.com - if I can find them on their site...

I've had mine on for a year with several trips up to 160 mph...no problems! You will need them on the front at least. The wheel wells will swallow your tires without them.

I had some adapters custom made so I could put 17" sawblades on my pickup..they are made out of some high grade aluminum and are about 2 1/2 thick..I've never had any trouble with those for 2 years now, and I drive the krap out of that truck...
