The last couple of days I have noticed a red C5 coupe headed in the opposite direction both coming and going to work on the interstate. The first few times I waved and got no responce. I thought, how typical. Around here, to see another Corvette of any model is kind of one of those rare Kodac moments. Yesterday, It was kind of warm here I had my windows down enjoyen the day, the vette and the drive, I saw them coming and as he approached, I stuck my arm out and waved as he went past. I could see them in there waving back, even though their windows were up. This morning he caught me by surprise because he flipped his head lights on and flashed high beams, it happened so quick I didn't get to respond, he was obviously looking, and prepared for me. Didn't even see them em coming until too late (probably due to my head being in pre-workland or doen a cruze other than to work). What a surprise! Now I feel like the one not waven. I'm going to have to get them to stop and find out who they are some how. I guess persistance pays guys en gals "Save the Wave". Wave to em all like its the last one you'll ever see. :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya
Hot Springs Corvette Weekend this weekend, should be fun! I'll wave my arm off for sure. When the arm gets tired I'll get the wife to do it for me. What a blast :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya
I always wave and most of the C4 owners do wave back , but 90% of the C5 owners are too proud to be driving a new vette to wave to a guy in an older vette :mad I will keep waving to them anyway :jester
I've found that most "clean" Vettes wave back. If it's dirty and dusty I get nothing. The drivers probably don't know what they're driving, anyway.

That's the way i am too. It used to really **** me off to get "snubbed" by the same C5s over'n over'n over again. Now...i just make a BIGGER show if it just to **** them off. hehehehehehe.
I don't get waves back most of the time - sometimes I get wierd looks - but it's all worth it when you get one back. It's a nice little thing we've got going between Corvette owners. Sure, there are lots of sports cars out there - but nobody waves other than Vette owners...

Re: A C5 Waved back ! (vette87)
A C5 waved back??? Mark this date down in your calenders boys...we've just made history :) :p: :)
Now all you C5 owners...relax, I'm just pulling your chain...but keep in mind you guys are little behind the times. Here in Canada, the wave is alive and well but there is the odd "soandso" who is too cool to wave back. Belieive it or not I usually get snubbed more by the guys in the mid-year cars than any other...they seem to think big blocks rule, yeah whatever...meet me at the oval
and I'll wave every time I pass you in the corners
I agree with Sal...its a good thing we have going and if nothing else, you're just saying "Hey" to another human being...from where I come from thats pretty
I got a real cool wave/salute from a C-5 pilot the other day when I was out big pimpin' in my LT-1. It was real cool to get the nod from a dude who obviously knew his heritage and proper "Vettetiquette."
OTOH, I got snubbed by a house frau the other day driving a brand new 02 C-5. But by the way she was clutching the steering wheel with her interpretation of the Vulcan Death Grip, I'm hardly surprised.
I used to get bent out of shape over the non-wavers. I regularly pass about 4-5 vette's every nice day and I think the C5 waveback is climbing around here, and it's probably cause i have been waving at the same idiots for a year and they finally figured it out. :smash: :smash:
I agree with LPD......I get waves from most owners ranging from a nicely restored 63' ragtop in Lynchburg Va to a C5 slowing down in the fast lane on I-85 in NC just to shoot a wave my way. Think most of the ones that don't wave just don't know about it.
