I'm kinda confused... Ok I have a 1985 Corvette and my rear view mirror (interior) looks like crap. So I bought another mirror that is supposedly for an 84-86 Corvette but it doesn't seem to fit in the same slot. Then I thought I got the wrong mirror so I got another mirror for an 84-96 Vette and same thing.
Then I realized something... I think the mirrors I bought were meant to be mounted on the windshield itself (it came with the metal plate too) and my current mirror is mounted to the ceiling part.
My question is, anybody else run into this problem? Were some 1985 Corvettes designed to have the mirrors mounted to the ceiling while others were designed to have them mounted to the windshield?
I just replaced mine with a lighted mirror from an impala (wanted map lights and mine had some dark spots. It came with the windshield mounting pad. I removed it and drilled a hole in the proper spot for the screw. Used a longer screw and mounted. Ran wire through the header panel to the dash. Looks factory and now I can see the seat when I get in in the dark.
