Anyone owned a porsche boxter
little Just wondering if anyone here ever owned a porsche boxter 2000 -2004.
I have been looking at them and there not bad priced.
How do they handle?better than our C4'S?
How hard are they to work on?
I do believe our LT1 C4's are faster by a bit.
Yes I know not a good place to ask but I'm trying to find someone who owned both.

never owned one but drove one.. not impressed. it was an S also. an LT1 is going to be a bit faster. they are a bitch to work on and for the money its not as much car as i would have expected. i would stay with the vette. i was more impressed with a solstice.

i have a friend that owns one , he can't do the work on it because , trunk ...has no engine , hood, has no engine ,wow strange ! you have to dismantle the interior or something ...i really like the style but i don't like the fact that's so complicated to work on

You need to look at the problems that each year and set up has between those years.
I looked at them last year and there are common problems like any car, it's pick your poison with what year of the model you pick.

I beat couple of them back with my Vert and the 2.59 gears.

IMO like most of the stuff from Germany, over priced and usually over rated. For what you pay for most any model Porsche you can generally get a Corvette for far less with equal or better performance all the up to the ZR1. To many its all about buying a name plate. Owning one portrays your sucessful and that you have money to back that up. There is a lot of truth to that also. You will find that out when you need parts or have it serviced at the dealer.

I am from Germany, and what ps374 says is absolutely true.
German cars, especially Porsche are a bitch to work on and wayyyy overpriced. No way I would ever buy this crap unless I plan on bringing the car to a shop for whatever is wrong with it.
And an equally priced Vette has way better performance. I would stay away from them unless you have tons of money to spend for the smallest parts that need replacement. I know the Porsches, and for even small repairs the engine has to come out.
The only part you can barely reach is the intake manifold...absolute nighmare for the do-it-yourselfer.
But they look quite good.....not for me but if you like it.....

Traded our last '77 on a 73 911 RS. The Porsche was a great driving car and very fast, but parts are prohibitively expensive. I had it up to 145mph several times which was a hoot! It had more speed in it, but the front end was getting too "light" at 145 to push it any further.

I test drove one when I was looking for a sports car and found it was a bitch to get in and out of. I'm relatively short (5'5" and short-legged to boot,) and when I could reach the pedals, the steering wheel was in my face. But the handling was great, and it was a quick little bugger. I love the look, and I'd still like to own a Porsche, but not that one. When I came to my senses, I started looking for the vette, and it fulfilled all my sports car dreams! Plus being American made, and parts and labor won't break me!
