:yesnod:

I need one of these on my '85 to really push the HP numbers up, my dyno chart showed my power peaking pretty early due to lack of air :( I really wish I could get my husband excited about the vettes so I could do stuff like this. :(

Thrills is right...the hp will peak and then plummet. That is why it's better to shift early rather than late. I found at the track, on my 87, it was better to set the shift point at 4400 than 4800...it would run quicker every time. No sense revving when it's just dropping. The SR will enable it to rev a little more freely and a little higher.

As for running a 13, sure, it could run a 13 now. With careful tuning and some bolt ons, by 87 with a 2.59 rear, auto, ran a best of 13.58, but not at a whole lot of mph, I think 101, but only ran that once. Its usual time was 13.75. The stock L98's seem to always run better through the 1/8th mile, then die out proportionately...whereas say a ZR-1 would keep pulling strong. Lee's 383 was actually quicker from 1/8th mi to 1/4 mi than it was start to 1/8th.

The mods I had on my 87 were - adjustable fuel pressure regulator, advanced timing, Flowmaster mufflers, TB air foil, good plugs and wires, MAF screens removed, undrive pulley for the alternator (DO NOT recommend this, caused my battery to die in traffic several times, not worth the gain), 1.5 full roller rockers (not for time, basically for engine life), and a Performance Resource chip. I think I got all of this stuff for about $1300, gathered over time. The car's first runs at the track were 14.37 and 14.20, and it had about 75,000 miles. With a 100 shot of NOS it ran a best of 12.8 at 109mph. I never ran it after the 3.54 gears unfortunately.

Yup. My '87 in stock form got its best times shifting from 1st to 2nd @ 4600, and the other shifts all @ 4400.

Yeah. I'm buying a set of 1990 stock rims from Daves90 on these forums. I'd like my car to look as stock as possible and I love the looks of the 90's. My rims have really grown on me but I think I'll be happier when I get the other rims on.
