Are you a masochist? Why would you do that? Many are trying to toss out the Bose system and you want to fit one in? It is going to require more than a simple wire or two. And for what? People keep their broken Bose by sending it for fixing because they want the originality. You don't have that issue and you want to seek it out? It might have been good in it's time but that was 20 years ago. The newer stuff will more than likely be better.
It is a lot more than a dash unit. You have to fit the Bose speakers and other things.
I didn't know they were a problem area. I've swaped in factory CD players in other cars with no problems and you can usually get them cheap from the auto wrecker or ebay.
Thanks for setting me straight. That's why I asked the question and now I know. I'll check out Crutchfield if I end up with this one.

You'd be trying to retrofit a 20 yo system. More trouble than it is worth. I'm not a stereo god but I would guess that things have improved since then that makes a 20 yo premium system crap compared to today's acceptable systems
having just removed my 20 plus year old bose, I completely agree that its a pita, and the new one works so much better.
My speakers are out and we are trying to get the new ones in. The front sill panel ones seem ok but the 6X9 rears seem smaller than the stock location. Time for some fixin.
Tonight or sometime this weekend I will be ripping out the old Bose player. After that, I will have it rewired for the speakers
I put them in at a slight angle and reused the bose outer frame , was able to catch 3 of the screws on the bose and make a small tab for the fourth. Then I trimmed the bose speaker covers and mounted the 6x9 after market speaker covers to them. The fronts , I completely removed the bose boxes(had to cut) and put a new flat panel with screws and glue, and used a hole saw for the speakers mounts. was able to go to 6" speakers that way. Could have gone bigger. Dash doesnt have speakers so I didnt add any.....yet. Ran all new wire, use a short piece of coat hanger to run the wires for the doors.(tape em to it, pull em thru). The nicest thing I've noticed , other than the great sound, is that the antenna only operates when the 'radio' is on, its down for everything else, hope this helps, bob
