well to top off all the bad luck iv had the last 2 weeks, today i go outfront and im looking at the vette and i notice the front end is sitting much lower then normal. actually, about an inch off the ground! right away i knew it could only be one thing. sure enough i jacked the car up and the front spring is cracked right into 2 pieces! after dealing with alot the past 2 weeks, i feel immune to bad luck, so instead of getting upset i laughed it off and im now planning for the fix. money is somewhat tight but i figure i might as well do things nice while i got it all apart. car is a 94 convertible, one thing is certain is i want to upgrade to vbandp's sport spring. while im in there, im going to lower the front and rear, put in new shocks, and probablly change the bushings out for poly. question is, if i put in the sport front spring and sport shocks, will i be fine for a while with the stock rear spring and shocks till i gather up a little more cash to go with a sport rear spring? just gathering ideas and seeing what everyones opinions are on the whole project, id really like to keep it under $1000. ill be doing the work myself. car has 145k miles so id like to replace things that are worn out. thanks!
Man that sucks but like you said that will give you the chance to up grade, what great way to look at something that would make me want to .
haha normally id be crying too, but iv had so much go wrong in the last 2 weeks, along with having to spend almost 2 months of pay (on stuff i didnt want to spend on! ), at this point i just say o hell whats one more thing to add to the list?
Post up pics when you do your project. Im interested in seeing how the front spring assembly comes apart. I need to do my front spring eventually.
Mike
Hey Mike! Check out this thread! There is some GREAT info there! And its pretty simple pulling these springs out! Should be able to do it in one afternoon!

But that one doesn't provide for removing the control arms. Anybody changing a spring would be well advised to do bushings and ball joints at the same time, and in any case removing the lower control arm makes pulling the spring pretty easy (with some judicious wiggling).
The only part of the job that had me totally perplexed was removing the rear mounting bolt on the lower control arms. It turns out you have to remove a brace (which includes a motor mount) from behind the mounting bracket to allow the bolt to come out the back side -- another brilliant feature from the Corvette factory. When I replaced the bolt I did it from the correct side -- the front -- so if I ever have to pull the lower control arm again (GOD FORBID!) it will be easier.
The VB&P spring is a good product....used one on my 84. R&R was 10 + years ago, but I remember it being very straight forward. Like you said, good time to upgrade.
About the sport spring front and stock rear... I dont see the problem in that! I was actually thinkng about doing that to mine awhile back!
Fix it up and lets cruise! If you need any help let me know man!
haha absolutely. im hoping by the time im done it will be sitting on a mostly new suspension, lowered, and on new tires and rims. ill be ready for plenty of driving
ok so i think i decided what im gonna do here. i will go with the vbandp sport spring, lowering kit, set of 4 bilstein sport shocks, and a poly bushing kit for now. then when funds allow, i will add a sport rear spring, do new ball joints and tie rods, maybe sway bars etc.

Very cool!
I would only do tie rods and ball joints if you really need them though... One reason being because of the cost involved and 2nd because if you get the car aligned after you lower it, then you will have to take it to the alignment shop AGAIN for the tie rods! So i would check them out BEFORE you take it to the shop
