I hope I don't step on any toes here but what is the difference between The CE and other 96 Vettes. Is it just the cosmetic package?
MG had the Limited Edition the last two years but it was just wheels, steering wheel, decals and a badge. They typically don't go for any more than another late B in similar condition. It seems the CE Vettes have higher asking prices. There also seems to be quite a few offered. Maybe it's a Corvette thing. I'm new to all this.

The CE was a $1,250 option which included Sebring Silver paint, CE badges on each side of hood and on the front and rear of the car, and Collector Edition embroidered headrests on the seats.

Yes, it was only a cosmetic package.
You could get all the same options on any other '96 Corvette.
All of the Collector Edition cars were painted Silver and had the GS style wheels, but not the 11" wide rear like the GS. Also the wheels were silver instead of black.

That had nothing to do with the CE.
ALL '96 manual transmission Corvettes were LT4
ALL '96 auto transmission Corvettes were LT1.

Great information. I have noticed the higher price for manual trans cars. Now I see that this may depend on the year. So obviously a 94-95 with a stick isn't as big a deal as a 96 ?
Yes...on 96's the LT4 engine is the one you want unless you don't want a manual. Personally I never got the concept behind the CE model...I think the Grand Sport is more the collectors edition of the 96 model year.

I'm learn'n. Thanks
The '94-'95 manual trans. cars would have the LT1 engine.
The LT4 engine was only available in the 1996 Corvette, and a few 1997 Camaros and Firebirds.

The concept is it marks the end of production of the C4 body style as did the '82 Collector Edition marked the end of the C3 body style, it has nothing to do with collectability.
Funny, I jumped on CL to check out any LT4 Vettes and found a '96 non CE. Guy had a personalized plate IH8FORD and says he won't sell the car with the plate
