Default Engine I.D help please

So to make a short story long an opti job just turned into an entire engine reseal job. For more details read this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...ould-i-do.html

Anyways as I'm taking various parts of the car i notice that a random bolt here and there have been replaced with aftermarket fasteners, the intake, oil pan, and exhaust manifolds have been off, as well as the front of the motor down to the opti.

I'm thinking the engine has been replaced. I can't find any numbers above the oil filter what so ever. I was under the impression that a partial vin# was stamped in this location. The car has a 157k on it and the motor itself is perfect. It never smoked, used any oil, or made any knocks or other sounds that it shouldn't. And the cylinder cross hatch looks new, though I know that isn't saying much. So the i.d on the pass side front above the water pump is, V0205ZUB. If it's not the original engine then I figure the date code would tell me so. Thanks for any help.

ZUB suffix code was used for a 92 LT1 with a 6 speed. is that what you own?

Engine is correct for your car.(should always state year when asking questions)

If it is the original engine then the block pad will also have last seven? digits of your VIN stamped with the ZUB code

Sorry for not listing year but yes it is a 92 6sp. I guess its the original engine but I can't see any digits on the block pad. Thanks for the help. Is there a link where you can decipher the codes?

Engine Code Stamping Numbers
All engines are stamped with an engine ID code, consisting of assembly plant code, production date and suffix code.

Engine ID Code Example:
V0101CLJ - (V = Plant, 01 = Month, 01 = Day, CLJ = Engine Suffix Code)

Example:
T0830CTY - (T = Tonawanda, 08 = August, 30 = 30th day,
CTY = 1970 396 Camaro, 375 hp, 11.0:1, TH400)

Code Engine Plant

F Flint (Motor)
S Saginaw Service
H Hydramatic
T Tonawanda
K St. Catherines, Ontario
V Flint
M GM of Mexico
