EGR Pipe Heat Shield
Can anyone tell me if heat shield on the EGR pipe is even necessary? Mine was still original (old, frayed and falling apart) so I cut it off. I was considering just using high temp primer and paint, but I figured I should consult the knowledge base first.

Replace it. Its as hot as the exhaust pipe. Anything that touches it when hot will cook.

I know from expierience that puppy gets real warm.
