what kind of wax should i use on a red vett i am new to this vett thing i inherted my dad's vett and want to keep it i the best shape any advice would be good thanks dustin

On my red 86 I use Liquid Glass. It goes on real easy and comes off just as easy. Once a year I use a polishing compound first or clay bar. Then I apply the Liquid Glass. I have used all the standard polishes and I still like Liquid best.

I've got a dark metallic red '89 coupe and I only use Zaino polishes and detail spray. Keeps my 20+ year old paint looking great. I did the whole thing with claybar and two different polishes and I'm really happy with the results. It's a little labor intensive but I only polish my car once a year. I also keep it garaged when I'm not driving it. The Zaino stuff is a little pricey but it works and Sal Zaino is very good about answering questions about his products and their proper application.

There is a whole Forum section here devoted to Detailing too. Look up top left and you will see the Forum drop down, look under "general" and you will see it if you have more questions on detailing. A lot of professional type guys there but the answers on wax will be as varied as the respondent.
