I see some high mile examples for sale. Over 100thou. This got me to thinking. So how far does one of these typicaly go before serious drivetrain issues? I am talking about the engine trans needing overhauled. Say an LT1 with an auto. I know cars go a lot further than the old days and a lot depends on who has been thrashing it. Just wondering what a general rule of thumb would be.
I just bought a 95 with 181,000 miles on it. At 165,000 the previous owner put a new engine in it. I know the previous owner very well and he took excellent care of his "baby". So based on that I would say they go 165,000 before needing an engine

Aminnich's post sort of blows your theory out of the water doesn't it?
My 93 6speed lt1 has 246000 miles, as far as i know original everything. Uses a little oil, slight smoke on some startups, and i beat the ***** off of it everyday. ran 13.3 in the 1/4 a few weeks ago..stock.
