Default 1992 Intermittent code 44 The fix is....

My 1992 has had an intermittent code 44 - left bank oxygen sensor lean - since I bought it recently. After talking with Tom Wong, the decision was made to pour two 20 ounce bottles of Techron into a full gas tank and drive it. The thinking was some injectors were dirty and not spraying fuel correctly. After about 10 minutes of driving I got a code 44. Normal for the car. I kept driving, the "service engine soon" light went out, and I kept driving for another 2 hours. The "service engine soon" light did not come back on. This morning I cleared the code 44 and went for a 2 hour drive. I did not get any codes and the car now idles much more smoothly than it did before adding the Techron. It appears the problem may have been a dirty fuel injector on the drivers side not spraying correctly and the Techron cleaned it. The car got rained on while I was driving it but there arre NO codes. Life is good.

Awesome news, glad you got it fixed.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong with the scanner?

Techron works...my gas gauge sending unit was stuck, showing at the full mark until I dumped a bottle of Techron in, all is good now.
