Default Outer window sweep frustration

A couple of years ago I replaced the outer window sweep on the driver side door. It went in quick and easy.

Tonight I attempted to replace the passenger side---attempted and failed. The original was held in place by three rivets and six or so round plastic inserts that fit into holes along the top inner edge of the door. The new one has metal clips that were not aligned quite right and would not snap into place. Even when I got a couple lined up. They just would not snap in. One finally broke off and I quit trying.

Anyone know if I can get a sweep with the original clips?

Unfortunately aftermarket usually requires special attention and modification. You think Corvette is bad, try restoring a Jeep. I had to mod everything from the leading supplier in some form to get it to work. I started looking for NOS OEM after that. Its worth the extra bucks to avoid headaches.

As to your window sweep problems I think I just drilled new holes for the rivets and put in 5 or 6 along the door edge. Ive gotten so used to "Making it work" that its my first path anyway.

Good luck.

Pictures would be helpful.

I can't recall where I got mine from but I didn't have that problem. I'm thinking CC maybe.

I just received an email from a customer service rep from this company with an offer to replace to piece. That certainly counts for something.

I responded with an offer to try again to make this one work and will add a rivet where the clip broke.

Results to follow...

Update: The reply to my offer was that another part has already been scheduled to ship today. I appreciate this and always prefer to do busines with people who will stand behind their product.

I am glad it worked out for you. A company that really tries to make the customer happy is a good one and seems to be a rarity today. Hope the new one goes in well.
