I already read the FAQ about the wheel offsets but I am not familiar with my 86 yet and I apologize since I am sure this is gone over frequently.
I am interested in these wheels locally but I am not sure if they are going to rub on my car. Pic is clickable
It looks like the wheel will move in about 1/2" and from the FAQ it looks like the 88-96 cars run something really close to the same offset of this wheel. Will this wheel rub bad on an 86? Car is all stock, not lowered.
With the specs you describe, the outer edge of the wheel will sit probably about 1" further inward compared to a stock 16x9.5" wheel. The wheel at 8 1/2" wide is an inch narrower than a stock 9 1/2" wide wheel and the 12mm difference in offset will add to the overall difference.
For tires, the 8 1/2" rim width will limit you to no more than a 275/40-17 tire. This tire size is very close to the diameter of the stock 255/50-16 so the speedometer reading will be very close. Make sure the wheel bolt pattern is 5x120.6 mm or 5 on 4 3/4" (typical GM 5 lug bolt pattern). Do a test fit if you can before handing over the cash.
