Default That's Nuts!

I went to a Chevy dealer looking for some nuts and bolts for a project I'm doing on the '88.

I wanted 25 nuts. The dealer quoted a price of $5.62 each.

Without once saying the word "Corvette", I ended up getting 25 nuts and 25 bolts from an auto body supply store for under $10.00 w/tax.

My local dealer doesn't carry ANYTHING for my 89. They acted disgusted when I asked for simple things like that.

For that price they better have been hand carved.

I just ordered 4 relay mounting clips from my dealer. It took 2 parts guys, 3 trips to the car, 30 minutes of searching, a week on order and 15 minutes to figure out if they came in and where they were. Picked them up yesterday. Total $26. No complaints.

Not trying to be a total smart *** but why did you go to a dealer for nuts and bolts. Most of the hardware is commom and you should be able to get it at your local hardware store. Just make sure you have the correct grade.

The "bolts" I was looking for were actually press in studs. I had broken some off while removing the rear bumper cover and wanted to see if they were available separately. The nuts aren't all that common - 5mm x .8 with a 10mm hex and 15mm spin washer. I figured I'd ask about them since I was already there.

Yeah they quoted me over 400 bucks for a 250 buck part yesterday as well.

Told them no thanks after I told them what I could get it for of course!

Thats cool like I said was not trying to be an ***. Just read on here alot about what Gm charges this or that. When unless you need to keep it a 100% GM. hardware and a lot of other parts are out there at parts stores ect that are the same and in some cases better. Dont know if it was this fourm or not but some guy was complaining how much a head light cost him at the dealer He said cause it was for his corvette I asked him if a corvette has a special headlight. Should have went to your local parts store

GM nuts and bolts, can someone tell me where the GM nut and bolt plant is located? Bet GM buys from someone who packages them in a GM blister pack.
