Poor C4's...

The truth of the matter is that the running fleet needs the part-outs. Especially the ZR-1/LT-5 vettes since stock of new replacement parts is limited.
GM will happily sell you a C6 right now. C5's are quickly becoming a bargain too. You can't stop people from wrecking. You can't keep people from daily driving car to 200k miles. They don't last forever.

There are 7 ZR-1s in the photos and one is an early pre production 1988 prototype, can you find it?No help from those in the know. And that car has been restored and is on display. This last part is a little tricky.

I too thought the first one had Missouri plates. As for the others, with a few exceptions, the passenger areas seem to hold up fairly well in a crash. As long as the other vehicle doesn't land on top of you!

Hate to say but, our fiberglass hoods prove to be very strong.

Ouch!!!
I got rear-ended Monday (in my truck) & all I could think was 'thank goodness I wasn't driving the Vette'. I was stopped in traffic, saw her coming & could do nothing but cringe. No serious damage to the truck, just bent one of the tow-chain tabs on my bumber with her hood.

I see 4 clearly, one of them was burned to the bone so I donot know if is 88 or older or nay year for that matter. Then I see 3 more but not too sure about them, one of them red fliped over its side could be the 88. not sure though.

Someone please tell me all the pictures of cars on top of the C4's are from tornado lifting them up and dropping them on them.
Would hate to think in a head on collision the on coming car always ends up on top of you!!

Are kind of scary pics, particularly the ones with trucks apparently running over them. We are probably all doing good to have survived this long. The pics and comments reminded me of the time years ago when I was stopping in traffic in my 71 Jag XJ6 - with a gas tank in each rear fender and notorious for catching on fire in rear end accidents. Anyway, I saw a Bronco in my rear view mirror and knew he was not going to stop so I purposely stopped further from the car in front of me that normal and put both feet on the brake and mashed it hard. I couldn't believe it when he later told the police that he was going 45 mph when he hit me (we were in a 25 mph zone)! Plus the Bronco was a 4WD on big tires and had big tow hooks sticking out from his bumper. Lots of damage to the rear but I was not injured.
I am sure all of us have had something similar where someone does something STUPID and yet we usually make it. Drive safe but enjoy the ride!

I was sitting at a stop light & looked in the mirror to see a pickup racing toward me. He locked up his brakes, stopped in a cloud of smoke inches from my bumper, then made a quck right & sped off. A motorcycle cop saw it all and took off after him.

Sad to see a Corvette all mangled up, even worse to think about the drivers. One more reason to really respect these cars, they are fast and with the wrong driver/conditions/etc they can prove to become your coffin...

Yes it is.If memory serves me correctly this car is now candy apple red with......................a red velour interior.I read the story about the owner taking the wrecked 91 ZR-1 that was halfway submerged in the water and bringing it back to life.Thats what I read anyway.

With the exception of the last pic..and I may be wrong in my mathematics here, but it looks like of all those wrecked C4's only about 6 had aftermarket rims. Just an interesting observation. As to the vette/other vehicle collisions all I can say is drive DEFENSIVELY!!!! In my area there are quite a few people that can't read/speak english yet they have licenses and seem to be all over the place and I've seen more than an average amount of "accidents". I'm not overly paranoid when I have the vette out but I am a little more aware. I'd certainly not want to be in my car if it could end up looking like some of those poor C4's.
