how do i fix my console button spring?

the spring went missing from the lil latch assembly of the console door and so the button doesn't pull forward and keep the lid shut so anyone can freely lift the thing open without using the button.

anyway to replace the spring without spending a truckload of money????

check Ecklers or Mid Am, they have the spring in there for a couple bucks.

I got the spring and button kit for like $10 I think. You then just have to disassmble the door, repair, and put it back together.

Or if you are really cheap, you can look at the one in the catalog, break out a pair of tin snips, and give it a shot. Worked for me :D

not cheap but just don't like waiting for little parts like that in the mail.

Mine broke and I used some 5/16ths foam weather stripping. The height was perfect and a small doubled over section provides perfect tension. The plus is it'll never break again and eliminated the slop.

I bought a small coil spring at the Home Depot and cut it to length. It was about 1/2 inch dia. x 1.5 long and cost about 50 cents. No problems since.

I concur on the MAD repair kit for around $10, but I didn't have to remove the console lid door in order to repair mine. You should be able to service simply by opening the lid and working on it from the underside without any drama.
