Default Coolant levels

My 90 coupe has a white overflow for coolant level. It is bone dry. Is this normal? How do I add antifreeze? Thanks

Completely empty is not really normal. On the front side of the container, there are two lines one for "HOT" the other for "COLD". Using a 50-50 mix of green (ethylene glycol) coolant and distilled water, fill the bottle to the COLD line when the engine is cold. Check the level every day to see if the level stays the same.

The cooling system will pull coolant from the bottle into the radiator as the coolant in the system cools off.

Also, with the engine cold, remove the pressure cap and check the level in the radiator. Add coolant to bring the level up to the base of the neck. Start the engine and keep an eye on the coolant level in the radiator as temps warm up. When the thermostat opens, the coolant level may drop.

Raise the engine RPM to about 1200 and continue to fill the radiator if needed. Replace the cap, bring the coolant level in the overflow tank to at least the COLD line.
