Vehicle speed is also an input to the FX3 controller. At any of the selector settings, the shock stiffness changes with speed.
For example, in the Tour setting at 70 MPH, the shocks are actually stiffer than having the selector in the Performance setting at 25 MPH.
The FX3 system works with the key on the ON position as it needs electrical power to operate. The controller does a self-test and then moves the actuators at each shock to a specific position based on the switch setting. Then as the car moves, the contoller sends signals (voltage) to each of the actuators and adjust the shock based on vehicle speed.
When I had my '92 with FX3, I pretty much left the switch in the "Sport" position around town. If the road conditions were fairly poor, I would use the "Tour" setting to smooth out the ride. I left the "Performance setting primarily for autocross and track day events.

This morning I switched to tour with the car off. I then fired it up and drove. Am I actually in tour? Thanks
In my (ex) 92 Z07 i used to ride it in sport mode all the time since the Performance setting was too hard and Touring setting was too soft, so... This system was hardly used and i was playing with it only when at the drag strip or on a road... You can feel a slight difference when you play with the setting on the road as the speed increase.
I can't tell any difference in my 92. The ride seems the same in any one of the three settings.
This is how my 90 is... I rode in another 90 that had all options, and something about z51. when that thing was put in perf mode it would jump the dots between the lanes.
The reason you guys dont feel a difference is because the system is speed dependent like C4cruiser said. The shocks never reach full stiff until 150 MPH. Any of the speeds you see on the street wont have much of a difference between the settings.
