I was in the parking garage in the galleria and my strange obsession with "I wonder if it's a 6-speed?" led me to the passenger side window where my transmitter opened his doors! Go figure. My car was parked AT LEAST 100 yds away....And no, I didn't rob the poor fricker.
I've heard of that happening, here's another oddity.
I have two friends with '99's. One's an FRC the other a regular coupe.
FRC friend locks her keys in the car(in the trunk area) by accident.
Coupe friend takes his door key and opens her door(passenger side, the drivers side wouldn't work).
I'm wondering if this was part of the reason they did away with passenger side door locks in 2000.
We also tried his key on another's '98 but it didn't work.
Although I have a 'Vert, my spare PKE fob is for a Coupe. Just for the heck of it I pressed the Hatch remote button on it and the rear convertible deck cover unlocked.

I've know that since 93. When I got my 93 vette the dealer gave me the coup fob by mistake. I soon discovered it made it easy to put the top down by hitting the button. you may not be aware of it but all fobs are the same. If you take the fob apart you will notice the inside of the vert fob has two buttons. I got the correct fob for my 96 vert I tried to modify the fob button to open the lid but wound up buying a coupe fob for my 96 vert.
