I have a Escort X50 radar detector that I switch between the vette and daily driver. For some reason whenever I take off a little faster in the vette and hit about 2500rpm, the radar goes off with Laser. If I slowly get up to 2500rpm and over it's fine. Doesn't do it in any other car except the vette. Any ideas? Maybe that thing can read my mind and is trying to tell not to do what I'm about to do
you might want to contact escort about the false reading...have you tried to mount it in a different position or drop it in the seat to try it there?
The zr-1's have a sloar-ray windshield with the reflective barrier that won't work with radar except for the cut-out on the bottom...you didn't say what model you have.

my 9500 work fine in all of my cars
Oh it's a 96. What's weird is that I had it in the car for couple of years now and it only started doing that sometime last year.
Sounds like a voltage drop is occurring in the car which is affecting the electronics in the detector. How old is the battery?
Not sure why it only happens when accelerating a little fast, but could be that the ECM is reading more sensors because of a surge in speed requiring more adjustments within the engine; that would have an extra pull of amps out of the battery.

Thought about that. But I just put a new battery in last week and it's still happening.
I've had 2 Escort X50's. When they start to go bad, they will detect Laser radar when there is none around. My opinion....trash it or replace it. After this happens, they don't work anymore. Just my observation.....
