Is the following a scam? If so, what do they do?
Thanks for the prompt response i will be paying you 12,000 with my PayPal account because it's attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal email address,(Paypal ID) so i can pay in right away. Make sure you get back to me so that i can make the payment. I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no shipping included. And if you dont have a paypal account, you can easily go to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy.Am presently on a contract trip and i am on the sea can't call or receive calls the only means of communication is by email..I await your reply asap

One time I had the bank open a temp account that the sender could do a money transfer into.
Once the money was transferred, the account was emptied and closed.
But this has the tone of a scam.

Sure seems like a scam. I would open a new paypal account. Then have him send payment. Paypal does not have to be linked to a bank account. Have paypal send you a check with the payment. Hope it works out for you.

I sold my Harley to a women in Japan. She wanted to do it through Paypal. I was worried so i emailed her to send a certified check and i keep the bike until it cleared. Check was good. Sold it to buy my fisrt Corvette. Found one on craigs list. Said he was in the air force (NICE PICKS OF THE CAR) all i had to do was transfer the money to his account and he would deliver it on his way home. If it sounds to good to be true it's not. I told him i would bring him the cash and pick it up--The add disappeared and so did he.

SCAM here's what'll happen. No courier btw. you give him your paypal ID. You'll get a B.S. email from "paypal" that says they have the 12k from them but to release it they need a deposit from you for X amount say 3k to ensure YOU don't scam the guy in question. You deposit the 3k and thats it scam complete. It wasn't really paypal..If you don't sent the X amount right away you get a threatening email from "paypal", saying you are in breach of contract and to prevent being sued for fraud "ironic huh?" you must send the money.
I had em try to run this one on me after I told them I knew it was a scam from the beginning, but they kept insisting they were legit and normally when you call em out they give up. I was never gonna send any money cuz paypal don't work that way there was no notice in my actual account and "paypal" kept sending the notices to an email of mine that my paypal account was not linked to.
these scams are never interested in your item, no one is coming to take your car, no couriers no shippers they just want you to send em money.
