Default TPI performance

I am getting 4800 rpm out of my stock ported intake,Have ported the plentum behind the trottle body. An ported the lower intake. My question is will large runners[tps]-[arizona speed] help me get any more rpm,s or is it the lenth of the runners thats killing it???.

Its both the length and inside diameter of the runners that are restricting the rpms..I have ported Accel runners, a ported Edelbrock intake manifold, and a ported plenum, and have probably picked up 300-350 rpms more..The only way to reach much higher rpms is to use one of the short runner intakes like a Super Ram ( which is no longer produced) a Mini Ram, or one of the other intakes made to do the same thing..Long runners are Torque Monsters, but to get much higher rpms you need to go with shorter runners...WW

Agree on all counts. But with a 383, I wonder if the improvement would be higher for a 350 (maybe another 200rpms). IOW, I'd be inclined to recommend larger tubes for the OP. Of course, I also like to recommend the FIRST intake in lieu of risking a used SR.

FWIW, Matts 350 TPIS large-tube TPI setup has darn near the same rpm ceiling as my mega-ported/siamesed SLP runners. To me, that means those larger (smooth, mandrel-bent tubes are probably better than I originally thought)
