Finally got my interior done. I started off by having to replace the heater core, which sucked. My best advice is to really keep track of where all the wires and relays go. When you put it back together these things really need to be oriented correctly so that everything fits. also, gently remove everything. I have broken tabs everywhere from the PO. You would think that by the final year of the C4 run, GM would have figured out something better than brittle plastic tabs to hold everything together. I also found a huge mouse nest lots of chewed wires with bare copper so fixing all of that really sucked as well. I pulled everything out and used a foil backed insulation which cost me about $45 from Home Depot. It's in the section for duct work. It's pretty much cut peel and stick. I paid a lot more for hush mat when I did my 86 and this works just as well. I got the carpet from wilcox, fit was good. I wish they had the the little piece that sticks up on the driver side floor which hooks the floor mat. I got a molded floor mat which looks good but slides all over the place. Got some great help from a forum friend with the heater core and the stereo system. Thanks Greg. The car came with an amp, 2, 12 inch subs and a capacitor all in mdf box which was custom built for the rear hatch. I did not use it. Took up too much space and the after market head is fine for me. (anyone want to buy it?). I went with a black carpet but kept the beige on the knee bolsters and the sills. Though I think I am going to put in the black sill carpet. Went with 2 tone Iggee seat covers which are great. Can't think why you buy new seats for $800 when these are only $189 and are nice. 2 tone shifter boot for the hurst, I am looking for a new ****. I got the shifter plate, radio trim and center vent from American Hydrocarbon. I got the silver carbon fiber. What do you guys think? I just thought it would stand out more than black carbon fiber. Pat at American Hydrocarbon is a straight up dude. There were some problems and he took care of everything. The product is very good and I will be buying more from him. Thanks Pat. So, just wondering what everyone thinks about the carpet and trim. When I first bought the car I wasn't crazy about Green or beige but the Green exterior is really growing on me. I'll be curious to see what you green guys think of the interior. There just aren't too many choices. I'll be throwing in a few odds and ends but for now I think I am done for a bit. I am at about 9k for the car and all the upgrades so I am happy. Thanks for looking and reading and thanks to everyone who helped and passed along their knowledge.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
Looks really good. Not sure about about the 2-tone carpet - probably looks better in person. Congratulations on completing it - you've worked hard on it!
Very nice. Tell me about the Igees. Do you have to remove the old seat cover material or do they just slip on?
they just slip right on. takes a couple minutes. nice fit, no wrinkles or loose fit you can't really tell they are covers. plus I like the pockets in the back.
