On the inside of my hood, just above the left side marker light, there is date that was hand-painted (scribbled) at the factory with a white paint pen. It's pretty faded now, but it says either Jul 5-92 or Ju 15-92. My VIN ends in 5116329. Is there a way to determine whether my car was built in June or in July, based on that VIN? It would be pretty cool if it was July 5, since that was just three days after the one millionth vette was made.

You can order a copy of your original build sheet and window sticker from the National Corvette Museum for $40 each. The build sheet will have the date of manufacture. Check it out :
1 Millionth vin is 5119134 so I'd assume yours was born a few months before. That white pen is from the dealership when they replaced the hood after a huge wreck!

So, there were 2805 made between mine and the millionth. About 20,000 1992's made, or about 1700 a month. On a linear scale that would make mine 6 weeks early, which doesn't jive with a June date, but at least I now know that my paint mark isn't "July 5".
Thanks all.
I'm curious...does anyone else have such a date painted under their hood?
