Default 90 vert brake recommendations

All,

It's time for brakes/rotors all around and I have 2 questions:

1. What kind of pads and rotors would you recommend? Don't need high-end (Baer way too expensive) but want good value for my money.

2. I need to start doing this kind of work myself. I've changed pads, but never rotors (not terribly mechanically inclinded but willing to give it a go!). I have the service manual, and CF member help so this should be doable FOR a newbie, right?

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I just bought these yesterday for my 88 vert. $180 for rotors and pads all 4 wheels from Adam at BrakeMotive, a vendor advertizing on here. Link below to his ad. He also carries the 13" J55 option if you have the big brakes up front.

Based on my research and other's reviews, these are a nice performance option (ceramic pads and cooler, zinc coated rotors) and look really nice too. If you have a more open rim, they really are nice to show off.

Tony,

Thanks! I've seen these advertised in the C4 parts for sale section and wondered if people thought they were a good value.

They seem to be good value compared to the more expensive Baer grade options.

They look like nice rotors, but personally I never use drilled rotors. Only rotors with the holes cast in (Brembos only AFAIK).

I have had issues with cracks on drilled rotors when doing track days. This is on my previous 911. It had 12" rotors on a car that weighs in at 2400 lbs or so.

I would guess that with a 13" rotor and the heavier C4, they might be more prone to cracking even on the street.

JMHO.

Stock stuff with a bendix type pad will stop you just fine. Check and see what napa has also.

Tried all those fancy pads on the street total waste of money and lots of brake dust
