Thanks diwiz24 and Klondike.

I'm going to try and work with the V-1 a bit more now that some of this has been explained. I do like the rear view feature of the V-1.

BTW is anyone aware of the Calif CHP using radar detector, detectors?

Be careful in upstate NY all along I think Rte 17 it runs from Montgomery to Corning I got stopped in Liberty NY supposidly going 79 in a 45 work zone. To make a long story short it was an obvious speed trap I saw the state trooper when I went by going 45 as posted. He told me got my speed from 2290 feet away from him which I noted then added my cuurent location to my GPS which I am assuming he thought a radar detector at first took a few pictures of my location and looking back up the road from where I came from. When I got home called the assitant DA and asked her if she thought two things were possible first the patrol officer could hit the same target twice in a row at 2290 feet and not a road sign or mirror or another car in front of me and second could the cruiser go 172 mph required to pull me pover where he did in comparison to where he was and I was 2290 feet when detected. I got a small ticket for not wearing a seat belt instead.
Has anyone been stopped for speeding when going the speed limit is more dangerous? A good example is the LIE on Long Island NY posted 55 but if you did that in the morning rush hour you would be rear ended as the right lane is going 70. If so how did you haqndle it? It has never happened to me but sure at some point it will be my turn.
I think at the end of the day the best bet is to run with what the cars around youare driving in the middle or right lane hopefully no more than 5 to 7 over the limit and never be the 'rabbit' at the front of a pack..LOL

I use the V-1 with the hidden display option. Very happy with its performance.

Did the Austin run yesterday looking to see how my laser detection would be with my new V1.They were not using them yesterday! It rained in the early morning and I guess the laser guys (mostly motorcycles) stayed in to avoid the 'might rain more' threat. Maybe the road spray deflects or scatters laser? Saw lots of SanAntonio local [Ka] action on the way out of town and 3 Troopers on the way up to Austin, 2 working and one just sitting quietly. Did see a motorcycle cop on I-35 in Austin running radar[Ka] while riding. I didn't know they did that. I mostly see the Cycles on the side of the road running the lasers, but they were not on I-35 yesterday. That's OK I've got a lot more service to do in Austin so like the treminator 'I'll be back'.

Hey Kim,

I have a few different ones, but the favorite is the 9500ix. It has the gps feature that remembers alerts so fewer false. The gps lets you see your speed also.(But officer I only use it to calibrate my speedo) I have a S3 that is battery operated. I use it for Motorcycles and rarely driven cars.
You are more than welcome to use one to see how they work. I used a V1 untill someone needed it more than me. The 9500 gives multi alerts just no arrows. Very useful if you go to Monterey on 101.

p.s. Concord is using laser more and more. Especially Concord side of Kirker Pass. Nothing like coming down that grade and seeing an officer on the side pointing a "gun" at ya.

No kidding.

Hellginia recently made it so that a any speed > 15 MPH above PSL is a reckless op.

But get this. Any speed 20 MPH over the PSL is an automatic felony.
Yes, along with child molesters, murderers, etc. fine is somewhere around $2500, and Im not BSing you.

I even read where its hard to get the prosecutor to plea bargain it down to a misdemeanor. Crazy huh

Look it up. This has been a topic of CFOT before.

Also, most Virginia state patrol cars use the Spectre to enforce radar detector laws. The valentine one can be detected with the latest Spectre. escort redline, and bel sti-r (a $1300 remote mount radar detector) cannot.

IMHO if ohio starting creating laws like that, Id move some place else.

Which Im surprised more Hellginians dont do.

Went for a ride the other day with a friend in the RCMP (Canada) was surprised to see that most of the time they drive with the laser unit in a instant on mode, which most time they will only snap on if they note visually a car that may be speeding - no detector will work in that case. Their units also note if vehicle that they have "lite" with the K band has a detector operating or not. Friends comment was if your caught speeding without a detector they will usually reduce the speed etc. to give you a break. If it's noticed that you have a detector no such luck as they usually look for other infractions they can pin on you also. Found it very interesting - got rid of my detector and from now on will find a pace car, seems to be the safer way.
