Just wanted some opinions of when other people feel it's still o.k. or it's time. I know it is a individual perception, but just curious where most people feel repainting is on the continual upgrading or restoring of our cars. My car has a ripple in the front bumper, some scratches hear and there, and some spider web cracks. Mine is yellow so very hard to tell for others, but because I wax and wash myself I know where all the imperfections lie. Thanks for your guys and gals opinions.
Mine has a chunk out of the spoiler, cracking and crazing on the spoiler, very little paint on the nose, a crack at each corner of the tonneau, dings in the beltline, fisheyes in the hood, a rip on one rockerpanel from a slipped jack...
When I have a million rock chips in my hood I'll repaint. Right now I'm at about 900,749 chips, so I got a while yet :jester
From pics my car looks great, but up close you can see literally several hundred tiny rock or sand chips. I got them at Carlisle last year. How do I know that?
When I arrived Saturday, I gave it a shot of Z6 and only noticed the usual chips that were there. Go to the hotel which was about 20 miles away. Back to the fairgrounds Sunday morning, give it a shot of Z6 and notice a bunch of tiny little chips that weren't there before.
It's like I was driving through the desert during a major windstorm.
It's not enough to make me repaint, but once I have a couple extra thousand laying around I'll have it repainted.
Right now I'm concentrating on making my '93 go faster.
If you're keeping the stock color, and are happy with the quality of the stock paintjob, then you'll probably be able to get it painted for a TON less.
If you look at the stock paint and can see the orange peel texture...and it bugs you...then be prepared to spend quite a bit more.
