If you read my other post, you will understand this one. I need new tires and therefore I was planning on getting new wheels next year but I need tires NOW so.....
I do not know how to get a poll going but, I'll out line it here.
1. Chrome ZR1's
2. High Polish Aluminum ZR1's, no chrome to flake.
3. Grand Sport Style Wheels, black with polished lip.
4. Keep my stupid crappy chrome peeling sawblades and get them rechromed which would cost more than any of the above. I like them but not the peeling and not the staggered setup.
Not a fan of black accessories on a vette.
My choice would be
2. High Polish Aluminum ZR1's, no chrome to flake.
I need new tires bad and want to do the wheels at the same time. Just my luck if I got chrome it would peel
Gary
See my Garage pic to see the Chrome ZR-1 style on my Dark Red Metallic,
should give you an idea of how chrome will look on your beautiful Ruby.
I have seen some very sharp C4's with black wheels, even the original saw blades powder-coated black.
I do have some peeling on my chromes, so I would go for the high polished
which would give you excuses to spend more time coddling your Vette, which to me is always a good thing, and therapeutic for us car guys!!
Best, Derek
Go with chrome, my friend bought some for his 90 quite a few years ago and they have held up fine. polished aluminum is rough to keep shined up when brake dust has it's way with them.
I had the stock chrome wheels on my 97 camaro for like 15 years without any issues and even when brake dust got on them all it took was some sos pads and windex for a brilliant shine in 15 minutes.
I do keep my stuff very very clean, like no brake dust on my wheels, so maybe I can get away with the chrome, polished aluminum is nice too though, can look like chrome. Decisions, decisions....
I say you go with any other wheel than the crappy chrome sawblades....and sell me the sawblades. that way I can have a crappy pair of chrome sawblades and get the salt eaten painted sawblades off my car.....
Well - if you're not locked on original wheels there are some nice ones from Fikse Wheels (http://www.fikse.com/2010/index.html). I used to have their Aro model on my ZR-1 before I sold it. Looks is of course a matter of taste, but very light split wheels. They cost a fortune, though.

How much you offering, I WILL be looking to sell them. After the new ones show up any how.
chrome ones cost what 400'ish and will last you a easy 10 years? Imagine the hassles of maintaining that polished aluminum for 10 years verses just buying a new set of chrome ones every 10 years.
I would rather deal with 15 minutes to detail chrome wheels then hours for polished ones and just save 40.00 a year towards new chrome wheels when the old ones flake. Just my opinion.
I made the decision to get the high polished aluminum. Why?
Wont flake, peel or pit. Cheaper. I can make them look like chrome with no problems a little Mequirers HOT RIMS and a buff cone on a drill. I take care of my stuff so I won't have to polish often. If they get dull, just polish cannot do that with chrome when it starts to go south.
I do like the chrome and I did get my sawblades used but IDK I'm going to try the polished ones. I can always get chrome later if I want to.
I'll post pics here, when I get them on, should be next week sometime, hopefully, tires will be here this week, wheels next week.
As promised I got them on today. I started with one and had the chrome sawblades on the back for comparison. I like the chrome sawblades but man those ZR1's are way classy looking I really like the way the car looks, not too flashy but not too subtle either. Really looks clean to me any how. A few quick pics...
Not the best pics ever, but you get the idea.
Also, I can honestly say I like the Kumho Escta SPT's size 275/40/17 at all 4 coners. They are quieter, ride better, = dry traction to the old GS-D3's, and WAY cheaper. FYI, going to non-staggered setup from a staggered one the car wants to rotate more and is more responsive to steering wheel input, less understeer at limit, actually feels really neutral, with maybe a touch of oversteer. I could change this with a 92 22mm sway bar, but I won't. Only difference from 92 to 93 was the staggered wheels and the 24 verus 22mm sway bar in the 92. The 92's had the same size tires at all 4 corners.
